Your office for Old Oak Housing in Erconwald Street is going to close for about 6 weeks from July 12th to allow works to take place to brighten the office.
Over the years there have been many changes and currently there are over 30 staff working from this office so its time to freshen up and have a few changes.
Although the office will be closed we will be still be taking calls and offering home visits to see you during this period. We don’t anticipate this causing too many problems for its short closure and will keep you updated on the proposed works.
Approximately 1 year ago during a previous Away Day, the Old Oak Board concluded that it wanted a new focus and direction that would benefit the community as a whole. Old Oak Housing & Old Oak Housing Association later adopted the idea that social housing needed to be seen in a wider context. A two year extensive health & wealth pilot has since started with the aim of providing extra care and support to tenants.
This year’s Away Day took place at the Park Plaza in Westiminster. It included a presentation by Darren Summers – Family Mosaic Director of Growth (Supported Housing) and a running question and answer session.
Valuable information sharing workshops took place as well as feedback on benchmarking and sharing best practice by Nigel Pierce – Head of Neighbourhood & Community – Old Oak Housing & Sarah Byron-Moore – Neighbourhood Manager – Old Oak Housing Association.
Guidelines were given to follow when applying for community awards within the housing sector. The subject of employing tenants was explored and experiences was shared by Lisa Judge a tenant and employee of Old Oak Housing.
The day was rounded up by a visit and ride on the London Eye.
Benefits & credits Winter Fuel Payment
You could get between £100 and £300 tax-free to help pay your heating bills if you were born on or before 5 January 1952. This is known as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.
Most payments are made automatically between November and December. You should get your money by Christmas.
You usually get a Winter Fuel Payment automatically if you get the State Pension or another social security benefit (not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction or Child Benefit).
If you qualify but don’t get paid automatically, you’ll need to make a claim.
Any money you get won’t affect your other benefits.
We are delighted to announce Old Oak Centre is now a registered test centre with BCS. This means for Hammersmith & Fulham residents you can come and enrol on our ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course and then take the accredited exam at the centre. ECDL is an internationally recognised qualification. If you want to gain the confidence, basic skills and knowledge to use computers, then getting an ECDL qualification could be right for you.
Not only will you get familiar with a whole range of common IT software packages, this means when you’re looking for work, now or in the future, having ECDL on your CV will show that you have the computers skills many employers are looking for.
